Over the Vines Gallery- 2nd Annual
Edgerton Community Outreach (ECO) and beyond cam together in an extraordinary display of generosity and support at the second annual fundraiser event held on October 21 at the beautiful vineyards and historic barn of Over the Vines. The ‘Vineyard Run/Walk to Fight Youth Hunger’ in conjunction with the Edgerton outreach aimed to raise funds for the children of Edgerton and it was a resounding success, thanks to the unwavering dedication of 160 attendees and 25 enthusiastic volunteers.
The day was filled with a sense of camaraderie and giving, guests enjoyed an array of exciting activities and entertainment. Attendees experienced a 5k run or 2k walk through the vineyards, owned by Billie and Ryan Kratky, while sampling wines produced by the very grounds the explored.
After, participants enjoyed a private concert from musician Bree Morgan in the 1870’s barn. As well as a raffle and silent auction with over 30 prizes donated by local businesses and community members. As well as a ‘WineZilla’ Grand Prize, which included 36 bottles of wine! Energy at the event is best described by Board Chair Member Ray Oswald. “The energy was incredible from the time people drove onto the property.”
“Raffle and Silent Auction winners were jumping around like they just won prizes on a game show. […] The excitement of the person that won ‘WineZilla’ was like she just won both showcases on the Showcase Showdown on ‘The Price is Right’. Everybody had a great time supporting Edgerton.” Ray Oswald
Quoting Over the Vines owner, Billie Kratky, from the very first Over the Vines event “We thought that a wine walk/run would be a fun way to bring people together to support a cause that is very near and dear to our hearts.” For the second year in a row she is correct! This years event managed to raise nearly $22,000, which will go directly to providing meals and snack packs for kiddos and their families in Edgerton. Quoting ECO’s Executive Director Sarah Williams, “This certainly is a need in our community.“
In 2022 Edgerton Outreach provided 20,110 snack packs, 1,183 ‘Grub Club’ meals and 3636 Lunch in the Park meals. Comparing 2022 to 2023 the snack pack totals have increased by 10%. “We are seeing the numbers for assistance grow, especially after additional Covid-19 funding has ended. As an example, we have seen an increase in food insecurity needs at the Outreach Food Pantry. Through the end of September this year we have helped provide food to 1,788 people across 709 families.”
