After We Went Over the Vines

On Saturday October 22, 2022 more than 150 people gathered at Over The Vine vineyard; just off of highway 73 in Albion, Wisconsin, to help raise money for the youth hunger programs in the Edgerton area. This is the first year the Edgerton Community Outreach partnered with Over The Vines for an event! Owners Billie and Ryan Kratky decided to open up their beautiful property for this public event in partnership with Outreach “when [they] learned what Outreach does to help kids, [they] wanted to get involved.” Still quoting owner Billie Kratky “We thought that a vineyard run/walk would be a fun way to bring people together to support a cause that is very near and dear to our hearts.”

Here you can see owners Ryan (far left) and Billie (far right) posing with participants of the event! Selfie station props were created by Outreach Assistant Thrift Store Manager Amanda.

All proceeds from the Over The Vines event are going directly to the youth hunger programs set up by the Edgerton Community Outreach. These programs have helped thousands of children in the Edgerton area. As Executive Director Sarah Williams explains, “This is certainly a need in our community. Last year Outreach and our generous sponsors provided 3,736 Lunch in the Park meals to children, 11,811 snack packs and 1,180 ‘Grub Club’ meals to students in the Edgerton School District.”

Over 100 people lined up for the 2K walk around the vineyard!

During both the 2K walk and the 5K run participants were given the option to stop at 4 separate wine stations on their way to the finish line!

Over The Vines grew and produced all 4 wines sampled during the event. Wines sampled during the event were their House Red & White wines, along with their semi-dry rose Catawba. The final wine they offered ended up being the best seller for the entire event! That wine is called Doug’s Blend and was also the sweetest wine of the day! The event offered more than wine and exercise! Over The Vines was engulfed with music from live band The MadTadders, raffles set to win free wine from the vineyard and beautiful gift baskets put together by the Edgerton Community Outreach’s Executive Director Sarah Williams. The event was also equipped with a full bar, selfie station, and food stand; selling hotdogs, brats, chili, and nachos!

A huge thank you to Billie and Ryan Kratky for opening your property for the Over The Vines event. Thank you to Ray Oswald for everything you did, from set up to pick up! A special shout out to Sarah Williams for putting together the raffle baskets. Thank you to all volunteers and staff members who participated in making Over The Vines a success. One final thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket and came out to enjoy the festivities. The Edgerton outreach is so very grateful of everyone’s support. Please know, we couldn’t continue these 3 programs without each and every one of you! We will be glad to see everyone at next years event!
