Serving Those In Need

Summer Lunch in the Park Program

Posted on by Sarah Williams

ECO is so excited to announce our new Lunch in the Park summer feeding program for children.

From June 20th through August 25th any child in the Edgerton area can access a free lunch in Central Park from 12pm-1pm.  For the first week or two of the program lunch offerings will include fruit, water or juice box, and nutritious non-perishable snack items.  ECO will incorporate sandwiches into the program once we know how many children participate in the program.

This program has been a dream of ECO for many years.  We know that many of the children that receive free and reduced lunch at school during the school year greatly suffer during the summer months due to lack of food options/availability at home.

The Lunch in the Park Program is an extension of ECO’s Breakfast Club Program.  ECO no longer serves cereal with milk at our local schools but instead we provide snack baggies of cereal that teachers can access for their students to have during milk break so that no student goes hungry in the mornings.  ECO will also be providing the Breakfast Club Program for students that attend summer school!

Children do not need to pre-register.  If parents have any questions they can reach Alyssa Meyers, Food Pantry Coordinator, at 608-205-7239 or 608-884-9593.

ECO’s Breakfast Club is supported by The United Way of the Blackhawk Region, The Edgerton Chamber of Commerce, and private donations.  The Lunch in the Park Program is supported 100% by private donations.  Donations may be made online or may be mailed to ECO, 106 S. Main Street, Edgerton, WI  53534.
