Serving Those In Need

Souper Bowl Sunday

Posted on by Sarah Williams

The Souper Bowl of Caring utilizes Super Bowl weekend in America to mobilize communities, especially our youth, to fight hunger at the local level.  Please read on to learn how you can help Edgerton’s Food Pantry through the Souper Bowl of Caring.

Per Wikipedia, The Souper Bowl of Caring began in 1990 at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church in Colombia, South Carolina.  It has branched out to include schools, businesses, and congregations of all faiths.  The idea is that while we enjoy the festivities of the Super Bowl game that we be mindful of those who are without a bowl of soup to eat.  Over the next two weeks if you are preparing for a super bowl party please consider asking your guests to bring canned soup to donate to the food pantry or take up a monetary donation for the Food Pantry to raise awareness about hunger in our community.

Edgerton Outreach has been working over the course of the past year to increase our couponing initiative.  Very often our shoppers are able to pick up canned chunky soup for 50cents per can and condensed soup for even less!  A $10 donation can be turned into 20 cans of chunky soup and a $20 donation can be turned in 40 or more cans of soup!  Monetary donations can be made via Paypal on our website or can be mailed to Edgerton Outreach 106 South Main Street, Edgerton WI  53534.  Help ECO stock the shelves during the Souper Bowl of Caring.
