On Saturday May 8th mail carriers in Edgerton and in many other communities collected donated food placed by mail boxes by local postal customers as part of the nation wide program to “Stamp Out Hunger”. I do not have an official count, but I believe that the Edgerton Food Pantry received over 6000 pounds of food!!!!! Breakfast Club
For many years, Edgerton Outreach served breakfast at the local elementary school Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. We provide students with juice, cereal, and fruit. The program is open to all students regardless of income and students do not need to register in any way for the program. HPRP Rent Assistance
Edgerton Outreach is receiving Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program funds. This program is funded through ARRA Funds, commonly referred to as stimulus funds. We receive many requests for rent assistance each week and very often people are confused because they may not qualify for assistance when someone else that they know did qualify. Roundy’s Fondation Supports ECO
On Friday, 04/16/2010, Edgerton Outreach received almost 3000 pounds of food through the Annual Round’s Food Pantry Tour. Three other Rock County pantries also benefited from this tour . Each pantry received a variety of canned good as well as a check for $500 to purchase perishable items or other items for the pantries. Boy Scout Food Drive
Tomorrow (Saturday 04/10/2010), the Boy Scouts will be distributing plastic bags with a list of suggested donations for the Edgerton Outreach Food Pantry. They will be collecting the donated food items next Saturday (04/17/2010). Please place your donation in the bag provided and place outside for morning pickup. The Intern’s Perspective
When I first started planning for my internship I had no idea what ECO was or even what they did. I went into my internship planning knowing that I was going to find a placement within the field of corrections, but when the opportunity to work at ECO was given to me by my coordinator, I thought sure why not? The first day I started, Sarah and Emily gave me the tour and explained what ECO was all about. They said something like this, “Edgerton Community Outreach, INC is a non-profit organization that assists low income families with obtaining food, paying rent, and travel vouchers. Edgerton Community Outreach services northern Rock County, including the cities of Edgerton, Evansville, and Milton. Youth Volunteers
Edgerton Outreach welcomes and encourages our local youth to volunteer and get involved in giving back to their community. We have been blessed to have great interest by students and church groups wanting to help out in our Thrift Store. Edgerton Outreach is blessed to have a crew of 35+ volunteers that staff our Thrift Store. Volunteers have many roles and responsibilities at Edgerton Outreach. We would not be successful without their help. People who shop at our Thrift Store regularly may have noticed many changes in our sales floor layout. Feinstein Challenge to Benefit the Pantry
The 13th annual Million Dollar Giveaway to Fight Hunger begins March 1st. Philanthropist Alan Shawn Feinstein will challenge food pantries and hunger fighting agencies to raise dollars, collect food items, and raise awareness regarding hunger in the USA. He is giving away one million of his own dollars as he has done for the past 12 years to reward agencies for their efforts.
