Lose Weight to Benefit the Food Pantry

Pastor Jean Bartlett, Pastor for the United Methodist Church in Edgerton, joined the Million Pound Challenge last week and suggested that I look into the program because there is a direct benefit to our Food Pantry at Edgerton Outreach.

The Million Pound Challenge is an initiative sponsored by the Princeton Club of Madison to benefit Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin.  Second Harvest Foodbank is an agency through which food pantries are able to purchase food items to keep our pantry shelves stocked at a discounted rate.   Pantries are often able to purchase food at the low price of 18cents per pound!!  The Princeton Club will donate 10 pounds of food for each pound of weight lost by any person joining the challenge.  People can also pledge to exercise a certain number of hours per week and for each hour spent at the gym 10 pounds of food will be donated to Second Harvest.  The best part of the challenge is that you can choose Edgerton Outreach as your pantry of choice to have the food donated to.  Please visit www.princetonclub.net for more information.

During the months of March and April Edgerton Outreach will once again be participating in the Feinstein Foundation’s Annual $1 Million Dollar Give Away to Fight Hunger.  All monetary and food donations given to the Food Pantry in March and April will be proportionately matched by the foundation.  The more that our community gives, the more we will receive through this challenge grant!!!
