Cassandra Anderson, a social work student from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, began her internship with Edgerton Outreach last week. She is a great asset to our social work team. She is bilingual which already has benefited our Spanish speaking participants. She has been working with our housing case manager to learn about home visiting households that are receiving rental assistance through our Hope Housing Program. In two short weeks we have bombarded her with information regarding the many programs offered by Edgerton Outreach.
Our staff survived the Rock County Homeless Count this past Wednesday. One hundred and twenty volunteers canvased all of Rock County offering assistance to persons that were staying in their cars, at rest stops, and other places not meant for habitation; a warm place to stay and access to shelter services. Homeless people in our communities seem to be invisible, but they do exist.
